Begin Your Fostering Journey

Do you have room in your heart and home for a local child who has experienced abuse and neglect? The fostering journey can take you to new horizons of hope and healing for youth in our community, but it begins with five initial steps:

  1. Get answers to your questions
Visit the Foster Parenting FAQ and Myths pages, call the Foster Care Recruitment Hotline at 954.414.6001 for Broward County or 561.352.2501 for Palm Beach County, or complete the online information form.

  2. Get linked to a foster home management agency
ChildNet will refer you to a local agency, who will guide you through the foster parent licensing process.

  3. Get trained as a foster parent
You will attend pre-service training class prior to becoming a foster parent. During this class, you will be introduced to the foster care system and learn how to care for a foster child.

  4. Get licensed as a foster parent
While attending the pre-service training class, you will complete the other foster care licensing requirements, including a home study and a background check.

  5. Get ready to welcome your foster child home
Once the licensing process is completed, you will be prepared and ready to welcome foster children into your home.

Foster A Brighter Future for a local child as a foster or adoptive parent. ChildNet will be with you every step of the way.
