ChildNet CEO and President Larry Rein's Latest Sun Sentinel South Florida 100 Opinion

The suspense was palpable Monday when reviewing the just released list of proposed legislative appropriations vetoed by the Governor. The list was long, 62 pages, and the total, $1 billion, record setting.  Fortunately, overall, Florida’s foster children were not victims.  Except for some special local appropriations, foster care funding remained unscathed and much-needed funding increases were approved.  These included a statewide increase in total annual funding which Broward and Palm Beach will share in and a crucial appropriation of more than $1 million to fill the shortfall in the past year’s funding of Palm Beach.  We are relieved, and grateful.
