Theresa M. Kennedy, Director of Permanency
Theresa M. Kennedy, Director of Permanency joined the ChildNet staff in April 2003 after working with the Department of Children and Families for six years. Theresa previously served as the Site Director of the North Service Center.
The Permanency Department seeks to identify a healthy, loving home for all children in the dependency system through foster care and adoptions. As the Director of Permanency, Theresa oversees the Recruitment, Termination of Parental Rights, Adoptions Units, Independent Living and Runaway Programs. The Recruitment Unit identifies families that are interested in becoming adoptive parents and provides them with parenting training. The Termination of Parental Rights Unit takes the appropriate case through the legal process to enable a child to be adopted. The Adoptions Unit matches children who are available for adoption with families that will provide them with a permanent, safe and nurturing home. The Independent Living Program helps teenagers that are in foster care and former foster children to successfully manage adult responsibilities. The Runaway Program locates foster children who have left their placement, researched incentives to keep them in their current placement and locate alternative placements if needed.
