Emilio Benitez, President & Chief Executive Officer
Emilio
Benitez, President and CEO has been involved with ChildNet virtually since its
inception. He served as the first Chair of its Board of Directors and remained
on the Board until January 2007. He was named ChildNet's CEO in November 2007.
Prior to joining ChildNet, Emilio was a sole practitioner in his own Fort Lauderdale
law firm where he focused on criminal, personal injury and real estate law.
Emilio has been involved in children's advocacy efforts
locally and statewide for more than a decade. His involvement includes membership
on the Diversity Committee of the Broward County School Board, the Board
of Directors of both Family Central, Inc. and Legal Aid Service of Broward
County, Inc. and the Broward County Juvenile Justice Board.
In January 2007 he was recognized by Governor Crist with a gubernatorial appointment to the Children's
Services Council of Broward County. He received his Bachelor degree in Latin American Studies from Tulane
University and his Juris Doctorate at the University of Florida.
As Chief Executive Officer, Emilio is responsible for the
overall operation of ChildNet. He reports directly to the agency's Board
of Directors and is accountable for the agency's compliance with Florida
Statute and its achievement of its contractual goals.
