To become a licensed foster care parent in Broward County you must complete the following:
- Complete 30 hour MAPP
(Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting) training course
- Clear background and child abuse checks for all household members
- CPR course
- Water Safety (if applicable)
- Approved Health Department Inspection of home
- Letters to foster child and biological parents
- Life story
- Medical Clearance (if applicable)
- Financial Statement
- Proof of income
- Copy of valid driver's license with current address
- Copy of auto insurance with current address
- Valid pet vaccinations (if applicable)
- Pictures of all rooms in the home
- Family and pet pictures
- Floor plan/evaluation plan with room dimensions
- Employer reference (2 year minimum)
- 3 Personal references
- 2 Neighbor references
- School references (if applicable)
- Letter from each child over 18
- Home Study completed by the foster care licensing agency
- 12 hours of training per year once licensed
- Re-licensure paperwork annually
